Oops!

Well, the actual words and feelings were a bit stronger than "oops."

Maria was returning from a calligraphy conference and ink from a leaking ink bottle found it's way to her treasured Zentangle "field notes" book.

Most of the drawings were not damaged and we separated the pages so they wouldn't dry together.

After a few days, I noticed Maria with her white ink and pointed pen.

Although the spilled ink was unplanned and unwanted, this book is more beautiful and unique than we could have expected.

Plus it now has a great story (and lesson!) . . . and we love great stories.

  5. Dolores, this is a fine quality hand-made book, covered in a lovely rich red smooth leather with the pages in a nice ivory laid finished paper. I bought it in either Boston, ....or Venice! I can't remember. It was not signed inside. app. 5x9" Best, Maria

  6. Isn't it just like Maria to make something out of spilt milk...I mean ink! Maria, you are such a creative inspiration (and your journal is more beautiful).

  7. oops... is very beautful, what a wonderful way to make your book so beautiful. Must have been a thought that became a thing of beauty. I always say "Thoughts become Things, make yours the good ones." and you did.

  8. Oh my! Just give it a good old "Bronx Cheer" and who is it that said "The medium is the message"?

Whispering Aloha to ink bottles that overflow. In Hawaii if it was water overflowing or whenever someone spills something we just shout "Abundance"

  9. Maria, I have always enjoyed my daily visits to your blog and learn something new every time. What came across to me today as I read what Rick wrote, is that you must be a beautiful person inside-out, because you see beauty everywhere, even in accidents, in relatively mundane things, in spilt ink. May you both continue to be blessed and inspired as you are both blessings and inspiration to me and surely, to countless others. Thank you so much.

  10. I love that Abundance comment, Lois! What a wonderful alternative to the things we automatically say about such things as spills and 'accidents.' You have helped me poke a hole in the automatic today. Hurray!
