We spent much of this day working on large illuminated letters in a Zentangle way.
We used large sheets of our Zentangle tile paper. Each person chose a letter which they painted in gold and then added their tangles. We had books of 14th and 15th century manuscripts on hand . . .
. . . which are also a rich resource for Zentangle tangles. Check out bales on the left in this next image which is an enlargement from that "M" in the above picture.
We chose to do illuminated letters in part because when Maria was working on an illuminated manuscript, I (Rick) interupted her and in that moment the idea for Zentangle was born.
Here's a sneak peek from our last day to give you a hint of where we went with these letters. (More later!)

The illuminated letters really inspired me! I can feel all the fun you all had and look forward to more posts about it. Yumm!
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love it! Please, please post lots and lot of the letters --maybe even all of them! I want to see!

ReplyDeleteWhat a feast for the eyes! Would love to see the finished work of these Masters! If it's possible this just makes me even more excited to be attending the October seminar. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteWow what lovely work ... I have an old family bible from the 1800's - leather bound with brass clasps - it is a beautiful thing, and the illuminated plates are wonderful to look at - I'll have to look at them a lot closer now! Thankyou for the wonderful pictures. Jane x
