Newsletter Discussion - April 18, 2010
We just emailed our April 18, 2010 newsletter and we're looking forward to your questions and comments.
If you don't already receive our free newsletter, you can sign up for it here. At that link you can also read all of our earlier newsletters.
I love the newsletter and all that is in it, but I try to keep a running file of the new tangles. Is there any way that you can arrange it so that just the tangle samples and examples print and not the entire newsletter. I'd like to save the trees that go into printing 10 or 12 pages instead of two. I don't publish online, so I have no idea how you would do it. However, your web designer would.
I'm not answering for the Zentangle folks - and Rick/Maria if you don't want this reply hanging out on the site I'll understand if you delete this.
. . . but I can share what I do to capture the Tangles from the newsletter. Most of them are just an image and they are not blocked from being copied. If you right click on the image in the menu, you'll see on a Mac Copy Image on a PC I think it's Save Image As....
On my Mac I just open a new document in Word and then use the paste command - the image will be pasted into the document - you can resize it. I've created a document for all the Newsletter Tangles - I set up a two column table. Column one contains the tangle and column two contains any notes I want to make about it.
I think on the PC side the Save Image will open whatever picture/photo viewer it finds on your computer and open the image you can save it from there.
One more note - sometimes what looks like one image is really several - which is the case with the Bales tangle. I had to move my mouse around and do the Copy Image command 3 times to capture the entire image. The process sounds more complicated than it is then again not as simple if Zen folks provide it for you.
In the wee hours of the morning when I posted the above comment forgot to add the most important item - the document I created is for my own personal use it's not for distribution - that would not be playing nice!
I love receiving the newsletter every month! I've been printing & pasting the patterns into a little journal I made for them.
I keep wondering, though. I tangle on boxes. Everyone loves them, & I have several people who want to purchase them. Can I sell them even though I'm using patterns from the newsletters?
absolutely. we ask that you acknowledge us in printed matter and books and pamphlets, websites and blogs,etc.......but your art is your art. best of luck with your work.
is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.
We believe that life is an art form and that the Zentangle method is an elegant metaphor for deliberate artistry in life.
