Pinwheel

Laura Harms' Challenge #40 is Pinwheels for Peace.

Maria "cheated" just a tiny bit!

She found a site for directions to make a pinwheel

Then she created two copies of our 102 tangles . . .

. . . on translucent vellum and hotpress glued them together, back to back.

After a quick walk down to our local hardware store, and a some drill and scissors time, voila!

Oh yes, if you make copies of artwork, make sure it's something you created or that you have permission to reproduce.

You did your the hard way. We make our pinwheels here by using thumbtacks and sticking them into a pencil eraser. Lovely project, by the way.

I wanted to make it bigger than usual. The thumb tack would not have held this. The translucent vellum was the really thick kind and when I dry mounted the two papers together, they were quite rigid. I found some nice brass fixtures and and the rest I found at the local hardware store down the hill. It made me take a well-needed walk on a nice afternoon. Sometimes I just NEED an excuse to get out of the house.....after all when you live and work in the same place.......M

I can envision a host of these turning in a garden...what a beautiful sight!

I bet your pinwheel holds up a lot longer than my tangled paper one did. It spun magnificently on its pencil base then drooped sleepily under the rainforest mist.

Lois I think mine was more like a wind turbine! m

It looks spectacular! I wouldn't say cheating is the word -- I would say creativity was ruling this endeavor! Hooray!

I agree with Carol - innovative AND creative! Love it.

ha ha ha :) Of course, Marie would find an incredibly cool way to do this challenge! I didn't get to this one this week - September has been so busy with back-to-school, I've barely had time to tangle. I really miss it! Need to make time.... :)

It's totally NOT cheating when you get to go to the hardware store and do construction!
