enyshou

Maria Writes. . .

I have been really busy with life and all its wonders. But in the interstices (defined as an intervening space, especially a very small one), I have found all I need to keep me focused.

enyshou is a tangle from our very first collection. We haven't said much about it, nor have we posted step-outs. I saw something sort of like it once, and created my interpretation of it. I find it very organic, yet structured at the same time. A few of these were middle of the night meanderings . . . .

It has been my "go-to" or "mac 'n cheese" tangle lately and I thought I'd share a few with our tangle friends around the world.

If you are so inclined, you can contact a CZT near you for a class.

Perhaps you will end up with your own version of it. How cool is that?

Our best to you on this bright, albeit crisp, sunny January morning.

Rick adds:

I love how Maria used a pre-strung Renaissance Zendala tile for that first image . . . and then totally ignored its string! Strings offer a matrix of many benefits, including your ability to go beyond it when you choose.

We will put that Zentangle Bijou™ tile in a Bijou frame and send it to a randomly chosen lucky responder.

What is your current favorite late night tangle?

They look amazing, as always. My go-to tangle is cadent. 2 Very simple steps for a great result.

Enyshou always reminds me of something mysterious but fun to explore. Paradox is a favorite end of the day way to unwind.

Mooka has always been a favorite of mine, but no matter what tangles Maria chooses, they always look great!

My go to is cadent I love to use it in the background or in the border

What a beautiful tile with Enyshou! My favorite tangle is Printemps. It's a great background filler!

Thanks for all of your inspiration!

These are stunning! I haven't seen Enshyou from the top like that before - only from the side. Breathtaking.

My mac'n'cheese tangle remains Mooka - it's become kind of a joke with the CT CZTs: Mooka makes Kelley happy! :-)

Cheers,
K2

Rick's Paradox in it's many incarnations is my all time favourite...

I love to draw Knightsbridge. I find the colouring in very soothing.

I don't particularly have a favorite. Any that I do always leave me feeling satisfied and my brain seems to be a bit decluttered! Thanks so much for all the effort you put into Zentangle.

It took me a while to find Bijou on the last tangle Maria did...but it looks like he's climbing on a pecan to me.

Love, love, love it! I wish you would do the step-outs. My mac 'n cheese tangle is N'Zepel. I really love the way it looks like stepping stones and a flower at the same time.

These are all so breathtaking... And inspiring. I've never tried enyshou from that angle... Only from the side, like the step out. I LOVE the versions you created here. I definitely need to explore this tangle more! My "go to" tangle is printemps... (Although I do love whichever one I am drawing at the moment!)

My all time fav is cadent. I find many different ways to play in that inner space. And the rhythm provides a hypnotic, soothing march (and yet it is soft) as I move across the tile.

My favorite late night tangle is Flux, big ones, connected ones, and lots of Tipple for a foundation.

Betsy Wilson said...

These are all fabulous! I absolutely love the flower head zendala...it has so much sparkle you nearly have to squint from the sun! I really have trouble picking one (or even 5) go to tangles. I had to make a list for the Diva's recent challenge and then just pick. I'm having such fun exploring them one by one!

Jan Brandt said...

Oh Maria ... the 3D sheen on that first Zendala is so rich and lovely! Whenever you share your art with us it feels like a love offering and I thank you for that! I've never drawn enyshou but I'm now intrigued. My favorite late night tangle pattern is Ansu by Lori Manoogian. Not only do I love the way it looks, but I love the way it FEELS to draw it!

Anya Lothrop, CZT said...

Definitely 'Nzeppel... though I'm still wondering where the name came from. :-)

Zentangle said...

Anya,

we thought that the tangle as it was progressing looked like a great Zeppelin being inflated, with sections popping out between the lines. So. . .

Love every one of them....They're just fabulous! I have to say my 'go to' tangle is N'Zepel.

Enyshou has always been a bit elusive to me so this gives me a push to go back to try it again.
My go-to tangle that soothes me the most is still Crescent Moon. It seems like every time that I try it, the results are different and that makes me happy!

'Nzeppel is one of my top favorite to "go to."

I have always been intrigued by this and have wanted to take your course for quite a while now... perhaps this will be the year!

I adore how you have tangle-ated this tangle.
Especially loved how you wove the string through the auras. Wow.

Margaret Bremner said...

Well, I'll have to look up Enyshou when I'm home again. I love the brilliant highlights on the seed-pod/bulb on a stem, and Bijou "on a pecan" (great description!), and all of them.

Sue Clark said...

Maria, these are stunning! I love looking at your beautiful line work and how you weave lines in, out, and around, with such delicate flow. I could never quite master Enyshou as the step-outs show, but I will take a second look after seeing beautiful examples. Printemps and Tipple are my "go-to" tangles and I put them in wherever I can.

loscann said...

My favorite tangle this week is Quandry but my fail safe has always been Tipple.

SuzyMosh said...

Looks wonderful--I've got to try it out. My go-to pattern of the moment seems to be NZeppel.

Deb Roth said...

Maria, these tiles are beautiful. I have drawn a few Enyshou in my journal, but now I am very inspired to add it to a tile soon. Thanks for the inspiration. The tangle that puts me in that zen place lately is Rixty. It was new to me when we drew it on a Zendala tile at CZT17 and I love how it keeps me focused They just keep growing out in all directions.

I love the rich organic feel that these all have, as if they are growing and expanding or just about to burst open. My go to tangle that puts me into the zen state late at night is Printemps. It's something about the spirals that soothes. In my life lately, with another changing event I seem to be doing a lot of late night tangling. It has been a blessing to escape if only for a bit.

I so look forward to seeing each months newletter, Enyshou is a fun tangle and your versions are just awesome. Thanks for an opportunity to win it!

These tiles are so beautiful and look so intricate. My middle of the night tangle is Knightsbridge. I find coloring the sections to be so mindful and relaxing. Thanks. MartyG

Late night tangling is a whole, special category for me -- I want easy, familiar and comforting tangles to fall back on. 'Nzepple probably does it best for me.

Brenda said...

Oh these are so beautiful Maria! It's taken on a totally different look! I probably have a few "go to" tangles, but I've noticed that I have been using Crescent Moon a lot as well as Fassett.
Thank you for continuously inspiring us to look at life differently from time to time!

Angela Werner said...

It's so wonderful to see your inspiring tiles, Maria! It made me want to run and do a tile of my own. I adore "line work" and so do isochor quite often. Enyshou will be a tangle for me to go and explore again right now. Thanks for sharing!!!!!

Charlotte Carpentier said...

My current favorite seems to be a Crescent Moon/Tipple combo for filling when I can't think of anything else. I have been using it in my calendar focus, and it really ties the different tangles together. I know it seems elementary or even boring, but it takes on a different look with each one as well.

Karen Goddard said...

I would love to see the step outs for enyshou. Love the 1st one on the zendala tile.

Daniel Lamothe said...

Yet another reason to become a CZT...Enyshou looks absolutely beautiful ^_^ My favorite "late-night tangle" is either Mooka or Paisley Boa - I love both of them. Curvy lines speak to me...

Marcia said...

My go-to is also Cadent

Webster said...

I like Hollibaugh; it is my go-to filler.
Also like Coil and Y-ful Power.
As usual, Maria does such a nice job with whatever she does!

Terri Young said...

W-2 is such a comfort to me. I use it as the base and fill in with different designs. Sometimes the lines curve a little and sometimes they are straight. Either way they are always beautiful and relaxing to the eye. Thanks

Antonine Koval said...

My go-to Tangle is 'nZepple. It is so relaxing to draw, and turns out so surprisingly each time. It does seem to breathe if you look just the right way!

So beautiful and graceful, as are all of your tangles. Great inspiration. So many go to tangles. . . mooka to start a tile, 'nzeppel is so satisfying, bales for backgrounds, printemps and tipple to fill, and some pokeleaf for a little organic touch. I love this Enyshou tho, and as others said, have only used it from the side, never from the top, so now it's a whole new tangle! thanks!

Heather Jackson said...

Beatiful! I love the fine lines and intricate layering look. It's really neat how you drew it swirling and wrapping around everything. I'm going to have to learn enyshou. My go to tangles of late are betweed, dragonair and tipple. Thanks for sharing!

Mimi Lempart said...

So lovely, Maria! It's nice to be reminded of Enyshou. My long-time favorite tangle has been Ynix. My hand takes to the seed shapes very comfortably. I think it, too, has not been published, but I hope it will one day.

I love the lyrical lines of your tiles. As always each of them are works of art with their own personalities. My go to tangles are Tripoli and Quandry. I love whichever one I am doing at the moment too.
Thank you,
