Now that you've "met" betweed, here are some Zentangles (some new, some previously published) that include betweed and show its beauty and versatility.
It has been such a rush to read your comments on our first YouTube. Thank you all so much. And thank you for sharing and linking it so more can see it.
We were so grateful reading the comments because we could tell that people really "got" what Zentangle's about.
For instance:
This is the first time that I really could understand the difference between zentangling and "d......." [ed. "doodling"] Now I understand that it is a structured meditation and that it is the structure or tangles which make it that much more powerful. As informative as videos can be, there's something special about a Zentangle Workshop with a Certified Zentangle Teacher. You get so many additional insights. You share your experience with others. You can ask questions in real time and enjoy seeing everyone's Zentangles arranged together. We encourage you to contact a CZT in your area to attend or arrange a Zentangle workshop. Molossus (linked on our sidebar) puts it best when she says:
I think the video shows what the benefit of attending classes by a CZT would be.Thanks Molossus.
You can look at drawn out steps until you are blue in the face, but sometimes you just need to see someone drawing it.

It's always a treat to look inside your sketchbook Maria - so nice to see the beginnings and progression of betweed - thanks for sharing with us.
I'm already a Zentangle addict but that video made me that much more "committed". It was wonderful...and I love Betweed.
I love this Betweed Tangle Pattern, Maria. I decorated a Birthday Card for my Father N Law's 87th Birthday. His Birthday falls on this coming Friday, Oct 1st. I started on the card in the afternoon at my job and finished it last night, but I forgot to photograph it since I was in such a hurry to put it in an envelope to get it mailed in time for his birthday. When I go visit my In laws next week on the 10th of Oct, I will make sure I photograph his Birthday card to share. Anyway I used this Betweed Tangle Pattern on the inside of the card. This new pattern remind me of the Paradox tangle pattern (one of my favorites).
2 more weeks....I can barely contain myself!! These are fantastic :)
another thought - Maria wrote "organic or achitechtural?" in her journal.
I've been playing with a pattern not dissimilar and I think it is very art-deco - reminds me a little of the Chrysler Building in NY. It has the very classic lines of art deco to me (pretty much my favourite art movement).
What do others think?
Kass, in response to your question about classic lines, I find that most of the 'official' tangles are based in very classic pattern designs.
I don't know how many times I've set down to deconstruct a celtic knot or other timeless interlace pattern, and realized that it boils down to a variation of Cadent, or Bales.
Rick, Maria, you make it so obtainable, and make it so easy. I feel as though zentangle lets me in on the secrets of classic design!
Loved watching the zentangle dvd that came with my kit this week and then this You tube video. Hope that there are going to be more of them for those of us who do not have access to a CZT. Maybe I'll just have to do the course myself!
Megan, We have 2, maybe 3 people coming from Australia in 2 weeks for our CZT seminar. We will post their names in our list of CZT's soon after. So you may have someone nearby!. Best, Maria(and Rick)
Rick and Maria, Now that we have Betweed ~ I am requesting a tangle named Betwixt. LOL Then we can do a Zentangle challenge called Betwixt and Betweed ~ Love You
